It's molle compatible (if you don't know molle then google that)
While it holds the kestrel snugly it does not hold the weather vane assembly, which anyone using it for a military application would want close by.Ironically the weathervane zipper case is not much bigger but holds that all important fin assembly and collapsable rod to stow in the case.I do wish it would pack my weather system, but then again I need to pack my small tripod too, so I may find a molle case for the tripod / weather vane.
The tag inside has no NSN number and just says made by kestrel, but its up to standards.

Manufactured exclusively for NK by Special Operations Technology in the USA of USA components, it features a padded 1000 Denier DuPont Cordura® Plus fabric body, a reinforced top flap, a 1" fastex buckle closure, and an inner pouch for spare AAA batteries. The mounting system is SOTech's unique MOLLE/PALS compatible secure fold/lock design with no hardware to break or rust. This mounting system also adapts for use on a belt up to 2 1/2" wide. Sized for the Kestrel 4000 line, it will also hold a Kestrel 1000 to 3500 series in its carry case.
