The GR50 can either be installed on a flat surface or attached to the top of a flag pole.I have a 16' skiff with tiller control and opted to screw the receiver to the top edge of the side since I don't have a console.It has a very low profile and is a little bigger than a hockey puck.It picks up a GPS signal super fast and has many features.Primarily, I use it to show my speed and mark way-points.Install is very simple and basically involves plugging in the cable and screwing it to a flat surface.
